Faculty of Medicine
The University of Cologne is one of the oldest and largest universities in Germany. YOUR TASKS
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research and teaching. It is desirable to participate as a clinician. The tasks of the professorship include the training of students and doctoral candidates in the field of translational paediatric cardiology.
YOUR PROFILE
We are seeking an outstanding academic in the field of development, regeneration or disease evolution of the cardiovascular system with an experimental and/or translational scientific approach.
Outstanding scientific achievements as well as a special commitment to the organization of teaching in the field of human medicine for students are expected.
The successful candidate is also expected to actively contribute to the conception and creation of the New Revised Medical Curriculum and other under and post graduate degree programmes that involve the Faculty of Medicine.
Further, they will be expected to teach in areas outside their specialisation. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to high quality research and publications.
Relevant publications must be included in the application.
Successful acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects are expected.
Finally participation in joint research groups of the University will be expected as well as interdisciplinary collaboration within the faculty and participation in the self-government of the faculty.
The desired qualifications include leadership experience, and in addition, concepts for equal opportunities and sustainable personnel development are welcome.

The position begins from the earliest possible date. Formal requirements are detailed in Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz – HG NRW). As a rule, the teaching load comprises nine semester hours per week (i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester).
