We are looking to expand our team dealing with experimental AI (accelerator) systems.

System Engineer/Administrator (m/f/d) for Experimental AI Accelerator Systems

This is what we expect from you

• Proficiency working in Linux environments
• Considerable knowledge in one or more of these areas:
  • Administration of High Performance Systems (for AI and Data Analytics) which includes amongst others
    • Workload Management/Scheduling (e.g. Slurm, etc.)
    • Low latency fabrics (e.g. InfiniBand) and Ethernet
    • Fabric attached high-performance storage (e.g. GPFS, NFS, RDMA)
  • Management of cluster systems
  • Authentication/Authorization (e.g. LDAP, Shibboleth, Keycloak, etc.)
• Comfortable using automated tools for deployment and configuration management (i.e. infrastructure as code, e.g. Ansible, Terraform), but not afraid to script on CLI, either
• Practical knowledge in architecting/designing, deploying and maintaining software and hardware systems based on components/technologies as listed above
• Friendly contact with colleagues/collaboration partners, and where necessary with users in higher level support
• Good German and/or English writing and presentation skills
• University degree in computer or data science, or other areas of scientific computing, or at least 3 years of practical experience in system administration/engineering

These additional skills are appreciated:

• Git, GitLab, CI/CD
• Machine Learning/AI: Application, frameworks, methods
• OS-level virtualization/containerization

Working time:

full-time (40 hrs) / part-time possible Flexible working time model with electronic time recording

Term of the contract:

24 months, with extension pending

Remuneration:

up to E13, see Entgelttabelle TV-L (https://www.lff.bayern.de/bezuege/arbeitnehmer/#entgelt)

Annual leave / compensatory time off:

30 days
(24.12. + 31.12. additionally day off)

Overtime is compensated by additional time off

Further trainings:

Individual support for in-service training and further education

Mobile work:

up to 60% of work time, when applicable
