Tätigkeitsprofil:

The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) has established a strategic collaboration with Conservation International (CI) to strengthen the integration of research and development on climate and ecosystems. The strategic objectives are to advance new insights on Earth resilience and sustainable development, with a focus on the role of biosphere stewardship and ecosystem management for climate mitigation and adaptation, and social-ecological resilience in societies. The Research Analyst will provide analytical research support, advance own research and provide managerial support to the designated PIK Director Professor Johan Rockström in his role as Chief Scientist for Conservation International.

Key responsibilities:

  • Point person responsible for managing the cooperation between PIK and CI, including co-authoring joint publications, expert advice on research activities, preparing science-policy dialogues and other events
  • Research and scientific writing on Earth resilience and sustainable development, in particular biosphere stewardship within Planetary Boundaries, ecosystem management for climate mitigation and adaptation
  • Advance Earth system modelling on biosphere carbon feedbacks under different climate change and ecosystem management trajectories
  • Personal support of Prof. Johan Rockström in his scientific tasks as needed

Anforderungsprofil:

Requirements:

  • Finalised PhD in environmental sciences, Earth system science, sustainability science or similar disciplines
  • Profound expertise in quantitative analyses and modelling and a corresponding scientific track record
  • Expertise in writing research papers
  • Experience from inter-disciplinary research and field studies is welcome
